The original work was part of my solo show ‘ Lines X Rhythm X Structure’ in Barcelona, 2023. The original ‘Mash’s Revenge’ remains within my personal collection as a black and white ink illustration. This artwork is a digitally coloured version, hence the ‘Refix’ in the title.

The artwork features a representation of rapper MF Doom, and illustrates the long term connection I’ve had with the energy of his music. The setting reflects his somewhat gritty and dark mood within His Viktor Vaughn projects. Mash’s Revenge is originally a title from a song he released with producer J Dilla, with there being a nod to said producer within the illustration.

MF Doom’s work includes a lot of references from comics, which is also an influence on my style. Choosing to present this piece akin to a comic splash page, reflects these influences.
