The original work was part of my solo show 'Lines X Rhythm X Structure' in Barcelona, 2023. With the original ‘Prototype 7’ staying in my personal collection I decided to render it digitally. This was a practice in rhythm and composition, displaying the functional use of traditional graphic design layout.
The square format is directly influenced by record sleeves, and reflects my more recent delve into the graphic compositing of record and tape sleeves. The artwork borrow’s from early 90’s Hip Hop which communicated tones of Afro-awareness and Conscious Rap. Groups such as A Tribe Called Quest, Native Tongue, and The Roots influenced the tone and choices of this character and patterns.
