The original concept/ sketch was for the mural painted as part of London Mural Fest in 2024. This piece is a homage to Pirate Radio, a subculture that was heavily influential in the musical soundscape of the UK. Pirate Radio didn’t just transmit underground music that general radio wouldn’t play: it became a form of communication, uniting people in their interests in particular musical genres. It gave a voice for then marginalised cultures such as the Caribbean settlers, and it informed people on upcoming events that would help bring people together to rejoice within their sub genres.
